Gregorio Aznaro kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. In the 9th minute of the match Benito Erramun shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Victorino Ferdinand showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Uriel Belmiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Victorino Ferdinand. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Uriel Belmiro ran back to his position shaking his head. A collision led to Instituto Juniors getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Armando Otsando hit a great ball. Uriel Belmiro in the 15thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Victorino Ferdinand, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Conrado Gartzea came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Instituto Juniors fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Conrado Gartzea couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Conrado Gartzea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilfredo Bieito was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. If Conrado Gartzea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 30 played minutes Saavedra got a freekick which was hit by Segundo Txurio. Conrado Gartzea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 33rd minute, Armando Otsando got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Armando Otsando fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfredo Bieito having to interfere. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arsenio Sanchez was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match, Conrado Gartzea got a very nice opportunity to score, but Wilfredo Bieito was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Instituto Juniors booed when Saavedra was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gavino Santiago didn't get a good kick on the ball. Conrado Gartzea's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilfredo Bieito read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. After 68 minutes of play, Saavedra's Arsenio Sanchez made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Victorino Ferdinand was left in no man's land by his defense there! Victorino Ferdinand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Uriel Belmiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. If Armando Otsando had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Armando Otsando had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Saavedra booed when Instituto Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rolando Pitin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Instituto Juniors's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
