After 2 minutes, Guillermo Chap mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Anguinán and the Universitario players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 3 played minutes Anguinán got a freekick which was hit by Guillermo Chap. When Moises Arano came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Universitario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Arano couldn't finish the play. If Fabian Sotero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabian Sotero in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Melquiades Barrionuevo saved Anguinán from getting behind. Guillermo Chap kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. In the 29th minute, Hermengildo Fertus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 32 minutes into the match, Anguinán's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Sotero came free, but Melquiades Barrionuevo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Anguinán's Paulo Soter got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Melquiades Barrionuevo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Sotero in the 35th minute of play. Melchor Nisio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Melquiades Barrionuevo having to interfere. In the 38thth minute of the game Fabian Sotero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Anguinán's Melquiades Barrionuevo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fabian Sotero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hermengildo Fertus during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 44th minute, Hermengildo Fertus hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fabian Sotero received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Melquiades Barrionuevo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulo Soter made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hermengildo Fertus in the 53rd minute of play forced Universitario's goalkeeper Ruben Ramirez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Melquiades Barrionuevo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Sotero, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 64thth minute of the game Fabian Sotero who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Anguinán's Melquiades Barrionuevo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Universitario's Ruben Ramirez proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 66th minute of the match, managed to save Universitario from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fabian Sotero in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Melquiades Barrionuevo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 81 minutes into the match, Anguinán's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Sotero came free, but Melquiades Barrionuevo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Eliseo Mero came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Universitario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Mero couldn't finish the play. If Fabian Sotero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 90 minutes into the match, Fabian Sotero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Melquiades Barrionuevo. Anguinán's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabian Sotero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Universitario walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
