An unexpectedly hard shot by Damian Quentin in the 9th minute of play forced Universitario's goalkeeper Ruben Ramirez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Amberes FC getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Cesar Oliviero hit a great ball. Americo Salvator, 11 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After some careless play in the Amberes FC defense, Eliseo Mero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Timoteo Lucian. The Amberes FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Timoteo Lucian should have stopped the shot. Timoteo Lucian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Sotero, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Fabian Sotero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Universitario's Ovidio Malvin got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabian Sotero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timoteo Lucian having to interfere. Amberes FC's Damian Quentin suffered a sprained foot after 43 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 43 minutes into the game, Melchor Nisio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Universitario's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Amberes FC the free kick. The supporters of Amberes FC booed when Universitario was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melchor Nisio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cesar Ezkerra recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ismael Quirce was the one to do the kick off. Fabian Sotero struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Timoteo Lucian didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Universitario. Fabian Sotero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd match minute, Universitario was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Americo Salvator to maneuver through the defense. When Moises Arano came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Universitario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Moises Arano couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Ismael Quirce managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amberes FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Ismael Quirce was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ruben Ramirez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ismael Quirce sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Timoteo Lucian showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabian Sotero in the 93rd minute of the match. Ismael Quirce received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Ruben Ramirez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Amberes FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
