Borussia's Gaston Boni got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 11 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Bleugrana! In the 12th minute there was a penalty for Borussia. Eustaquio Alonso stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Norberto Cristofor. 0-1. Gaston Boni received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Norberto Cristofor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Borussia fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 18th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Isaias Rufo got free with Alberto Abadia in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Gaston Boni came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Borussia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaston Boni couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Borussia's goalkeeper Alberto Abadia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Isaias Rufo. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Guido Jerico to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Bleugrana's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gaston Boni fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
