The referee ignored CA Vélez Sársfield's protests and gave Carlos Nafarroa a yellow card for diving instead. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jose Maria was the one to do the kick off. Basilio Umea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulises Sesuldo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claudio Txurio's late challenge caught a Esquel FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Txurio helped the player get up and apologised. Claudio Txurio hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 54th minute, Jose Maria got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ulises Sesuldo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind CA Vélez Sársfield's goalkeeper Basilio Umea, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ulises Sesuldo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basilio Umea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jose Maria, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulises Sesuldo in the 66th minute of play forced CA Vélez Sársfield's goalkeeper Basilio Umea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Esquel FC's Nereo Nerio proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Esquel FC from getting a goal against them. In the 93rd minute Silvio Egoitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nereo Nerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in CA Vélez Sársfield's zone, Jose Maria stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Basilio Umea came out of the goal and Jose Maria tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 97th minute, Ulises Sesuldo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Basilio Umea was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-3.
