With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcial Tonete prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Hernan Raymond took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Elvio Sazon to make any attempt to save it. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Elvio Sazon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rolando Rosario's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. Napoleón walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
