Anibal Refugio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Basilio Lorien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Delmiro Umea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesar Sandaili, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Newels old boys getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Erubiel Abella hit a great ball. Delmiro Umea was a little too slow when Romeu da Fonseca got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 2-0. After 40 minutes, Pedro Innocenzio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wilde and the Newels old boys players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Newels old boys booed when Wilde was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Innocenzio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Delmiro Umea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesar Sandaili in the 86th minute of play. After 86 played minutes Wilde got a freekick which was hit by Constantino Tauro. 87 minutes into the game, Romeu da Fonseca cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Delmiro Umea was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 93rd minute, Anibal Refugio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wilde's supporters rose to their feet, but Geronimo Urdaspal was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Basilio Lorien breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Newels old boys players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
