Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ruperto Maties got the match started through his kick off. Gilberto Kauldi hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Eugenio Christobal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ruperto Maties, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Adolfo Victoro made a great header on Club Atletico Talleres's corner, it was just that newells's Eugenio Christobal managed to reach the ball for a save. After having played for 21 minutes, Ruperto Maties managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atletico Talleres's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ruperto Maties was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ruperto Maties fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugenio Christobal having to interfere. In the 33rdth minute of the game Arnaldo Ulizes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Atletico Talleres's Vicente Seguinus was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 46th minute, Ruperto Maties made a precise shot to the right of Eugenio Christobal. newells's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Arnaldo Ulizes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Eugenio Christobal came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atletico Talleres's Teofilo Tulio. But to his dismay, Teofilo Tulio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. In the 62nd minute, Santiago Corderun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Ilixo in the 63rd minute of play forced Club Atletico Talleres's goalkeeper Vicente Seguinus to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in newells's zone, Teofilo Tulio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eugenio Christobal came out of the goal and Teofilo Tulio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gilberto Kauldi got free with Eugenio Christobal in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eugenio Christobal made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruperto Maties in the 75th minute of play. Eugenio Christobal made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Teofilo Tulio sent off a good shot on target. The throw-in from Leonel Claus in the 87th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by newells's Gavino Abechuco. Arnaldo Ulizes might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Vicente Seguinus. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arnaldo Ulizes ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, newells's Paulo Figueroa got a free kick in the 91st minute. When the match was over Club Atletico Talleres could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than newells throughout the match.
