The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Humboldt's Cecilio Chorche got a free kick in the 7th minute. Mauricio Brion received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Urbano Mergildo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Urbano Mergildo had great luck who in the 13thth minute grab hold of the ball when Mauricio Brion from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 17th minute the ball was on its way in behind Humboldt's goalkeeper Urbano Mergildo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Urbano Mergildo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauricio Brion, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute Mauricio Brion shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Urbano Mergildo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 26th play minute Amado Montay came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Urbano Mergildo. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Mauricio Brion managed to get in a good position for a shot. Amaicha del Valle's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauricio Brion was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Urbano Mergildo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Amaicha del Valle. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauricio Brion in the 43rd minute of play forced Humboldt's goalkeeper Urbano Mergildo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Samuel Bibiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Samuel Maraman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Urbano Mergildo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauricio Brion in the 52nd minute of the match. In the 55th minute Mauricio Brion shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Urbano Mergildo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cecilio Chorche hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. After 57 minutes, Ramon Lluciano mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Humboldt and the Amaicha del Valle players grew even worse after the yellow card. Urbano Mergildo had in the 59thth minute some difficulties stopping Delmar Goi's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. With a little luck, Amaicha del Valle's Samuel Maraman got control of the ball when Samuel Bibiano tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Amado Montay came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Amaicha del Valle fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Amado Montay couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amado Montay in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Urbano Mergildo saved Humboldt from getting behind. After having played for 72 minutes, Amado Montay managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Amaicha del Valle's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amado Montay was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 78th minute, Mauricio Brion got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Amado Montay took the ball and in the 86 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Urbano Mergildo. Urbano Mergildo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Humboldt players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Amaicha del Valle.
