The Tortugas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adolfo Mederi should have stopped the shot. If Hamdullah Nedret had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Aurelio Cordarrol kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Adolfo Mederi. That made the score 2-0 in the 17 minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Hamdullah Nedret managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Desamparado de San Juan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hamdullah Nedret was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benigno Corderro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Adolfo Mederi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Adolfo Mederi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Simon Cedro's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benigno Corderro in the 25th minute of play forced Tortugas's goalkeeper Adolfo Mederi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Simon Cedro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Desamparado de San Juan's supporters rose to their feet, but Simon Cedro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adolfo Mederi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 29 minutes into the match, Desamparado de San Juan's goal looked a bit too open when Gogo Damario came free, but Abelardo Astrada reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carmelo Umea hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Hamdullah Nedret scored 4-0 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Adolfo Mederi, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Simon Cedro was the one to do the kick off. If Hamdullah Nedret had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Benigno Corderro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adolfo Mederi having to interfere. 58 minutes into the match, Tortugas's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Senin came free, but Adolfo Mederi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute Gogo Damario shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Abelardo Astrada saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugo Senin in the 67th minute of play forced Tortugas's goalkeeper Adolfo Mederi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonatan Umbruso lost his temper 70 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 69 minutes into the game, one of Desamparado de San Juan:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Abelardo Astrada went to the wrong direction when Romeo Txindoki was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Gogo Damario's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Abelardo Astrada read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. Desamparado de San Juan's Abdulbaki Tayfur was substituted for Abel Lohitzun. After 80 played minutes Tortugas got a freekick which was hit by Armando Jokin. 84 minutes into the match, Gogo Damario had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abelardo Astrada. Desamparado de San Juan's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gogo Damario was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. If Benigno Corderro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Tortugas's Victoriano Blai got a free kick in the 92nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benigno Corderro in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adolfo Mederi saved Tortugas from getting behind. Desamparado de San Juan's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
