Ovidio Eguen hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Rodolfo Cordara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pedro Cambranes in the 8th minute of the match. The supporters of Concepción booed when FC Schalke 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Gonsalvo didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute of the match Hilario Porfirio sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Rodolfo Cordara skillfully saved the ball. Rodolfo Cordara came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Concepción's Segundo Suarez. But to his dismay, Segundo Suarez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Cambranes in the 14th minute of play forced FC Schalke 04's goalkeeper Rodolfo Cordara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th minute, Martin Mendiko fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Silvestre Ofelio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the FC Schalke 04 defense, Ramiro Ondino kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rodolfo Cordara. The FC Schalke 04 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodolfo Cordara should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet as FC Schalke 04's Silvestre Ofelio slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Braulio Olando. That made the score 1-2 after 30 minutes of play. Rodolfo Cordara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pedro Cambranes, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Martin Mendiko made a kick off. If Fermin Jurdan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silvestre Ofelio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pedro Cambranes in the 58th minute of play forced FC Schalke 04's goalkeeper Rodolfo Cordara to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Braulio Olando didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvestre Ofelio went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. FC Schalke 04's Silvestre Ofelio got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FC Schalke 04's Ovidio Eguen got a free kick in the 79th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcos Veronica got free with Rodolfo Cordara in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 83rdth minute of the game Segundo Suarez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Schalke 04's Rodolfo Cordara was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. FC Schalke 04's Rodolfo Cordara proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save FC Schalke 04 from getting a goal against them. Ovidio Eguen struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Braulio Olando didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Schalke 04. Ovidio Eguen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Braulio Olando having to interfere.
