Ahrenfeld's Maximo Mino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodosio Iratzeder in the 10th minute of play. A collision led to Ahrenfeld getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Isaias Iztal hit a great ball. Christian Luar took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gaston Ekain. Gaston Ekain dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Atletico de Rafaela's Teodosio Iratzeder got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Ildefonso Iratxo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 21 played minutes Atletico de Rafaela got a freekick which was hit by Elias Alonso. Christian Luar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Gaston Ekain tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 26 minutes, Elias Alonso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Atletico de Rafaela and the Ahrenfeld players grew even worse after the yellow card. Elias Alonso hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. The supporters of Ahrenfeld booed when Atletico de Rafaela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Kusko didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 28th minute, Ildefonso Iratxo made a precise shot to the right of Gaston Ekain. Atletico de Rafaela's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Gaston Ekain showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hugo Maurino in the 32nd minute of the match. Ildefonso Iratxo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gaston Ekain having to interfere. Gaston Ekain breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gaston Ekain stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ildefonso Iratxo's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Atletico de Rafaela's goalkeeper Gaston Ekain, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Isaias Iztal blasted a shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gaston Ekain having to make a save. After the first half Ahrenfeld were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teodosio Iratzeder was the one to do the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Christian Luar kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gaston Ekain. That made the score 0-4 in the 52 minute of play. Hugo Maurino struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Gaston Ekain didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ahrenfeld. Hugo Maurino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maximo Mino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Fonso, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Gaston Ekain made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hugo Maurino in the 67th minute of play. After 68 played minutes Atletico de Rafaela got a freekick which was hit by Elias Alonso.
