Modesto Oihenarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfonso Aurken in the 10th minute of play. Rueda's Enrique Giro got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Eriberto Jaen in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Modesto Oihenarte saved Clun Atletico River Plate from getting behind. If Alfonso Aurken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Enrique Giro fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rueda's protests and gave Enrique Giro a yellow card for diving instead. Enrique Giro kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. Modesto Oihenarte took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eriberto Jaen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 29 played minutes Rueda got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Rios. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Pastor Kusko managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clun Atletico River Plate's supporters rose to their feet, but Pastor Kusko was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnulfo Madaleno breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Pastor Kusko received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Arnulfo Madaleno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 57 minutes into the match, Clun Atletico River Plate's goal looked a bit too open when Eriberto Jaen came free, but Modesto Oihenarte reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Uriel Goito charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Uriel Goito the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Arturo Nazario kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfonso Aurken couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Eriberto Jaen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Modesto Oihenarte was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. The supporters of Rueda booed when Clun Atletico River Plate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elvio Figueroa didn't get a good kick on the ball.
