Alejandro Fix stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Santiago Chuan's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. Ernesto Veronica took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ulises Lastur, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Santa Rita's Tomás Gabirel got a free kick in the 17th minute. Santiago Chuan succeeded in the game's 22nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. Garupá's Marcelo Gaueko got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ulises Lastur in the 29th minute of play forced Santa Rita's goalkeeper Ernesto Veronica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Santiago Chuan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Marcelo Gaueko managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ernesto Veronica breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Victor Giraldo got his second yellow card in the match during the 39th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Alejandro Fix made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santiago Chuan in the 48th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 92 minutes, Ulises Lastur mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Garupá and the Santa Rita players grew even worse after the yellow card. Santiago Chuan scored 1-2 in the 95th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alejandro Fix, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The Santa Rita supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Santa Rita would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
