Deportivo Residentes's Ceferino Gustau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arturo Barros in the 26th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Deportivo Residentes's goal looked a bit too open when Arturo Barros came free, but Ceferino Gustau reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 29 minutes into the match, River plate's goalkeeper Pastor Acevedo had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Evaristo Haitz. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Juan Mosen might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ceferino Gustau. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Mosen ran back to his position shaking his head. Pedro Jurgi struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Ceferino Gustau didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for River plate. Eusebio Canor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eusebio Canor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ceferino Gustau having to interfere. Atilano Erruki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edgard Birjaio was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Juan Mosen dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ceferino Gustau, 1-1.
