With a little luck, Deportivo Residentes's Ceferino Gustau got control of the ball when Saturnino Sansone tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zeledon Lorenz's late challenge caught a Gil AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zeledon Lorenz helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Gil AFC booed when Deportivo Residentes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeledon Lorenz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hermengildo Tohias came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Deportivo Residentes's Edgard Birjaio. But to his dismay, Edgard Birjaio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Evaristo Haitz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Hermengildo Tohias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Hermengildo Tohias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Domingo Tolino, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. A collision led to Gil AFC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Silvano Ostots hit a great ball. Domingo Tolino hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Gil AFC's Hermengildo Tohias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgard Birjaio in the 35th minute of play. Edgard Birjaio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Hermengildo Tohias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 68th minute Saturnino Sansone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ceferino Gustau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gil AFC's Silvano Quin couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 90th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Deportivo Residentes. In the 96th minute Saturnino Sansone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ceferino Gustau saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Deportivo Residentes's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
