Merluza De Barranquilla's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Kaiser FC the free kick. Igor Raymon was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 14 minutes into the match. After 15 played minutes Merluza De Barranquilla got a freekick which was hit by Igor Raymon. Filomeno Gorbea came out of the goal in the 16th minute to try and stop a shot by Kaiser FC's Erubiel Suero. But to his dismay, Erubiel Suero quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 20 minutes into the match, Octavio Montel had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filomeno Gorbea. Merluza De Barranquilla's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Octavio Montel was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Merluza De Barranquilla's zone, Rigoberto Teofilio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Filomeno Gorbea came out of the goal and Rigoberto Teofilio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Kaiser FC booed when Merluza De Barranquilla was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Julian Loco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fabian Banegas struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Herminio Aimar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merluza De Barranquilla. 30 minutes into the match, Erubiel Suero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Filomeno Gorbea. In the 41st minute Erubiel Suero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filomeno Gorbea saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Filomeno Gorbea took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Suero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Edelmiro Osoro fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Merluza De Barranquilla's protests and gave Edelmiro Osoro a yellow card for diving instead.
