Filomeno Gorbea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Fernandes, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 17 minutes into the match, Merluza De Barranquilla's goal looked a bit too open when Cirilo Romo came free, but Filomeno Gorbea reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Fausto Fernandes sped through Merluza De Barranquilla's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Filomeno Gorbea. The audience was convinced that Bonifacio Escobar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Filomeno Gorbea was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. The Merluza De Barranquilla fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Filomeno Gorbea should have stopped the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-6 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Fulgencio Hori showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabian Banegas, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. With a little luck, Merluza De Barranquilla's Filomeno Gorbea got control of the ball when Fausto Fernandes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Iker Bela hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Filomeno Gorbea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeronimo Paz in the 70th minute of play. 71 minutes into the match, Merluza De Barranquilla's goalkeeper Filomeno Gorbea had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bonifacio Escobar. Filomeno Gorbea made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bonifacio Escobar in the 76th minute. In the 80th minute, Fausto Fernandes made a precise shot to the right of Filomeno Gorbea. Merluza De Barranquilla's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-8. Jeronimo Paz took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Filomeno Gorbea. Fausto Fernandess short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Filomeno Gorbea to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.
