Jesus Tipi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Valentin Pere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Valentin Pere recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 13 played minutes Los Punteros got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Rius. In the 22nd minute Hector Jerardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesus Tipi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 26 minutes into the game, Anibal Pacorro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Los Punteros's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Messina the free kick. Anibal Pacorro hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Jesus Tipi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Teodosio Ascencio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 29 minutes into the match, Los Punteros's goal looked a bit too open when Teodosio Ascencio came free, but Jesus Tipi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Deportivo Messina's Teodosio Ascencio got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Teodosio Ascencio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesus Tipi having to interfere. Yuriy Babushkin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valentin Pere, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. If Valentin Pere had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Deportivo Messina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Teodosio Ascencio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 48 minutes into the game, Jimeno Medina recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Yuriy Babushkin. Jimeno Medina showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hector Jerardo was the one to do the kick off. Jesus Tipi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teodosio Ascencio in the 54th minute. A collision led to Deportivo Messina getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Gabriel Bizen hit a great ball. Yuriy Babushkin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jimeno Medina, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. When the match clock showed 60 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Hector Jerardo sped through Los Punteros's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jesus Tipi.
