In the 3rd minute, Anier Mon hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Denis Inautzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Abar in the 5th minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Mercedes's goalkeeper Augusto Ellande had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fermin Etxeberri. 8 minutes into the match, Mercedes's goalkeeper Augusto Ellande had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fermin Etxeberri. 17 minutes into the match, Mercedes's Alvaro Abar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Denis Inautzi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fermin Etxeberri in the 18th minute of play forced Mercedes's goalkeeper Augusto Ellande to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alvaro Abar in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Denis Inautzi saved Newell´s from getting behind. A nice corner shot did that Honorato Kauldi got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Denis Inautzi quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Augusto Ellande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enzo Haritz, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 27th minute, Alvaro Abar made a precise shot to the right of Denis Inautzi. Newell´s's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 29 minutes into the match, Newell´s's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Abar came free, but Denis Inautzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Denis Inautzi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alvaro Abar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute Enzo Haritz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Ellande saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Augusto Ellande was a little too slow when Fermin Etxeberri got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 1-1. Mercedes's Augusto Ellande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enzo Haritz in the 36th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcos Giraldo got free with Augusto Ellande in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44thth minute of the game Alvaro Abar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newell´s's Denis Inautzi was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alvaro Abar struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Denis Inautzi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mercedes. Denis Inautzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Abar in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Fermin Etxeberri made the kick off in the second half. Augusto Ellande showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrej Golota in the 52nd minute of the match. Mercedes's Augusto Ellande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enzo Haritz in the 54th minute of play. 56 minutes into the match, Alvaro Abar notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Newell´s's Denis Inautzi. Denis Inautzi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Andrej Golota scored 2-2 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Augusto Ellande, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alvaro Abar might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Denis Inautzi. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alvaro Abar ran back to his position shaking his head. Alvaro Abar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cleto Laffitte took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Augusto Ellande. Augusto Ellande dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. With a little luck, Newell´s's Denis Inautzi got control of the ball when Alvaro Abar tried to sneak it across the goal line. Newell´s's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
