After some fancy dribbling in the 2nd minute, Murat Mićić managed to get in a good position for a shot. The supporters of FK Naftasi booed when Gnjilan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Murat Mićić didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th minute, Milenko Uzelac ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zlatomir Dobrašinović was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murat Mićić in the 16th minute of play forced FK Naftasi's goalkeeper Nikola Stokić to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nebojša Kažić was slow to take the kick. During this time Gnjilan's players had a chance to rest. At last the ball reached Vlade Cuković at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of FK Naftasi. 4-1. Ðuza Petrović's late challenge caught a FK Naftasi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ðuza Petrović helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Gnjilan getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Ðuza Petrović hit a great ball.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Metodije Malinić stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The corner led FK Naftasi's Miloje Budić to fire away a dangerous shot which Zlatomir Dobrašinović despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gnjilan's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
