Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Bangor's Robat Coneely started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 5 minutes into the match, Robat Coneely notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Ely's Ysgawyn Kavanagh. Ysgawyn Kavanagh was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ceithin Eaton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Calder Hamm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ceithin Eaton scored 1-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Calder Hamm, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Modred Farley struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Calder Hamm didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ely. Ely's Ysgawyn Kavanagh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robat Coneely in the 21st minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Barris Foote during the 25th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ely getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. Barris Foote hit a great ball. In the 30thth minute of the game Modred Farley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bangor's Calder Hamm was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ceithin Eaton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Ely booed when Bangor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cant Korting didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Ceithin Eaton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ceithin Eaton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Calder Hamm having to make a save. Bangor's Calder Hamm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Modred Farley in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, Ely's goal looked a bit too open when Gwydre Freston came free, but Ysgawyn Kavanagh reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 40 minutes, Renfrew Avery mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bangor and the Ely players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Bangor getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Renfrew Avery hit a great ball. Ceithin Eaton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Calder Hamm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ceithin Eaton in the 45th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Modred Farley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Barris Foote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Calder Hamm stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ceithin Eaton's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. In the 62nd minute Modred Farley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Calder Hamm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 64 minutes Bangor's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Modred Farley who took care of the corner kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gwydre Freston got free with Ysgawyn Kavanagh in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Ely's Ysgawyn Kavanagh got control of the ball when Gwydre Freston tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bangor's Cant Korting got a free kick in the 70th minute. 2-1 became the score in the 75th minute when Modred Farley elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 80 minutes into the match, Bangor's goal looked a bit too open when Modred Farley came free, but Calder Hamm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ely's Modred Farley got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Calder Hamm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Modred Farley in the 91st minute of the match. In the 94th minute, Modred Farley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the referee ended the match the Ely players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
