Spectators: 6785 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1785, VIP seats: 0) Fraserburgh's Wal Niven started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wal Niven scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bob McLennan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Marcus Cassels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Dean Yuill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wal Niven in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bob McLennan saved Millport from getting behind. Neil Gregorson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bob McLennan having to interfere. Bob McLennan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wal Niven in the 17th minute of play. Wal Niven struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Bob McLennan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fraserburgh. Bob McLennan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Neil Gregorson in the 21st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Millport's Murray Findlater got a free kick in the 21st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Millport's zone, Neil Gregorson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bob McLennan came out of the goal and Neil Gregorson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 26th minute, Wal Niven left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Fraserburgh fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. After 31 minutes of play, Fraserburgh's Wal Niven made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bob McLennan was left in no man's land by his defense there! Millport's Bob McLennan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christopher McGlasrich in the 37th minute of play. Marcus Cassels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Dean Yuill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Neil Gregorson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcus Cassels stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Neil Gregorson had several of the Millport's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 62 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-4 score and a disappointed Bob McLennan as he didn't even see the shot coming. Quentin Kilgour received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Dean Yuill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Wal Niven struck a weak shot in the 74th minute. Bob McLennan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fraserburgh. If Marcus Cassels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Cassels in the 82nd minute of play forced Fraserburgh's goalkeeper Dean Yuill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wal Niven fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bob McLennan having to interfere. A collision led to Millport getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Gordon McGillegowie hit a great ball. In the 88th match minute, Millport was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcus Cassels to maneuver through the defense. Christopher McGlasrich's late challenge caught a Millport's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christopher McGlasrich helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Fraserburgh getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Christopher McGlasrich hit a great ball. Dean Yuill took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Quentin Kilgour, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcus Cassels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Yuill having to interfere. When Quentin Kilgour came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Millport fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Quentin Kilgour couldn't finish the play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Fraserburgh eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
