Terence Addy charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Terence Addy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Terence Addy kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After having played for 14 minutes, Davie McColl managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. William Wallace FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Davie McColl was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tony Nelson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murray Marnoch in the 17th minute of play. In the 21st minute, Dougal Toward got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Murray Marnoch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brian Webster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony McAskill having to interfere. Dougal Toward fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony McAskill having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Timmy McMinn in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Anthony McAskill prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 36 played minutes Shanklin FC got a freekick which was hit by Dougal Toward. Anthony McAskill made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Webster in the 42nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Murray Marnoch managed to get in a good position for a shot. William Wallace FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Murray Marnoch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tony Nelson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. William Wallace FC's Anthony McAskill proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save William Wallace FC from getting a goal against them. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Brian Webster made the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in William Wallace FC's zone, Brian Webster stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anthony McAskill came out of the goal and Brian Webster tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jordan Watt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Tony Nelson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 63 minutes into the match, William Wallace FC's Murray Marnoch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tony Nelson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Dougal Toward came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the Shanklin FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dougal Toward couldn't finish the play. After 70 minutes of play, Shanklin FC's Brian Webster made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anthony McAskill was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Dougal Toward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brian Webster received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Anthony McAskill tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tony Nelson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Murray Marnoch, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. In the 78th match minute, William Wallace FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles McMurray to maneuver through the defense. Brian Webster struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Anthony McAskill didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Shanklin FC. Anthony McAskill showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dougal Toward, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brian Webster in the 93rd minute of play forced William Wallace FC's goalkeeper Anthony McAskill to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Shanklin FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
