Spectators: 6785 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1785, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Evan Sharp started the match with the kick off. After a rather tough play, Scottish Highland AFC's Eddie McKimmie got a free kick in the 4th minute. Derek Wharrie acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 5th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Tim Garvie. Alexander Ross sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derek Wharrie was a little too slow when Evan Sharp got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. Scottish Highland AFC's Derek Wharrie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Scottish Highland AFC from getting a goal against them. Alexander Ross received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Derek Wharrie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evan Sharp in the 21st minute of play forced Scottish Highland AFC's goalkeeper Derek Wharrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Jamie McDermid hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eric McGilchrist, 27 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan McSimon in the 33rd minute of play forced Lanark AFC's goalkeeper Arthur McAdie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Scottish Highland AFC's Guy May sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Arthur McAdie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Ron McTaggart fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Scottish Highland AFC's protests and gave Ron McTaggart a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Scottish Highland AFC's Ron McTaggart got a free kick in the 41st minute. Derek Wharrie stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evan Sharp's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. In the 45th minute, Evan Sharp fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Harry Loudoun received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Derek Wharrie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ivan McSimon to make the kick off. Arthur McAdie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivan McSimon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Harry Loudoun charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Harry Loudoun the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Lanark AFC's Harry Loudoun got a free kick in the 54th minute. Martin Sim kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Derek Wharrie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexander Ross, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute Lanark AFC were awarded a corner. Tim Garvie went to the cornerflag to take it. Lanark AFC's Alexander Ross got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Scottish Highland AFC defense, Alexander Ross kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Derek Wharrie. The Scottish Highland AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Derek Wharrie should have stopped the shot. Arthur McAdie made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Guy May sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Evan Sharp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lanark AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Evan Sharp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Derek Wharrie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Scottish Highland AFC's Ivan McSimon got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lanark AFC's goalkeeper Arthur McAdie, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Harry Loudoun was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 95 minutes had been played. A collision led to Lanark AFC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Harry Loudoun hit a great ball.
