Nicky McAulay fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald McDonald having to interfere. With a little luck, Strathpeffer City's Donald McDonald got control of the ball when Nicky McAulay tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gus Kilgour in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Darius Allan saved Kirriemuir from getting behind. Strathpeffer City were furious when Wal McCuaig was red carded, 21 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 20th minute, one of Strathpeffer City:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Strathpeffer City. Kyle Adair placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Ivan McLise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darius Allan having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bruce McCrimmor during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Kirriemuir getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Bruce McCrimmor hit a great ball. The supporters of Kirriemuir booed when Strathpeffer City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shane Fee didn't get a good kick on the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Donald McDonald didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kirriemuir. In the 73rd minute, Gregor Cookson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nicky McAulay's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Donald McDonald read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 78th minute of play. Bruce McCrimmor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donald McDonald having to interfere. During the 88th minute of the match Gregor Cookson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Gregor Cookson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 89th match minute, Kirriemuir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gregor Cookson to maneuver through the defense. Derek Hendry took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 90th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Darius Allan. Kirriemuir's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
