Gus Kilgour started the match with the kick off. If Raymond McCorkle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 2nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 7 minutes into the match, Strathpeffer City's goal looked a bit too open when Raymond McCorkle came free, but Donald McDonald reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Strathpeffer City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Laurencekirk AFC:s goal. 15 minutes into the game, Arthur Howie was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Laurencekirk AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Strathpeffer City the free kick. A collision led to Laurencekirk AFC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Arthur Howie hit a great ball. Ivan McLise sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With his leg Logan Carrigan managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Strathpeffer City's Ivan McLise fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gus Kilgour in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Logan Carrigan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ivan McLise received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Logan Carrigan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Richard Sherry hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 30 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Laurencekirk AFC! Logan Carrigan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wal McCuaig went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In a very dangerous position, a player in Laurencekirk AFC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 34th minute. Penalty! Wal McCuaig placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Shane Fee received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Logan Carrigan came out and tried to block the shot, but Shane Fee slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 39th minute. After some careless play in the Strathpeffer City defense, Richard Sherry kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Donald McDonald. The Strathpeffer City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Donald McDonald should have stopped the shot. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Andy McKee to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Ivan McLise's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Logan Carrigan was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Laurencekirk AFC's Logan Carrigan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gus Kilgour in the 65th minute of play. Rob Bowmaker kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Raymond McCorkle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 74 minutes, Gus Kilgour managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Strathpeffer City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gus Kilgour was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 78th minute the ball was on its way in behind Laurencekirk AFC's goalkeeper Logan Carrigan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan McLise in the 79th minute of play forced Laurencekirk AFC's goalkeeper Logan Carrigan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After taking down the ball on Strathpeffer City's corner Wal McCuaig fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Logan Carrigan quite easily take care of the ball. Ivan McLise received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Logan Carrigan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Laurencekirk AFC's Logan Carrigan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gus Kilgour in the 94th minute of play. In the 95th minute Gus Kilgour shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Logan Carrigan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Strathpeffer City walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
