If Peter Foulis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 36 minutes, Peter Foulis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Darvel FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Foulis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Andy McKee's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lewis Black read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Tyler McGilchrist was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Darvel FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laurencekirk AFC the free kick. After 40 played minutes Darvel FC got a freekick which was hit by Tyler McGilchrist. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Andy McKee was the one to do the kick off. 56 minutes into the match, Laurencekirk AFC's goal looked a bit too open when James McBrieve came free, but Logan Carrigan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Darvel FC's goal looked a bit too open when Raymond McCorkle came free, but Lewis Black reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Laurencekirk AFC's Arthur Howie got a free kick in the 60th minute. Peter Foulis might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Logan Carrigan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Peter Foulis ran back to his position shaking his head. Phil Thomson charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Phil Thomson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 67th minute, one of Laurencekirk AFC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Laurencekirk AFC. Logan Carrigan went to the wrong direction when Joseph Buntain was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by James McBrieve in the 71st minute of play forced Laurencekirk AFC's goalkeeper Logan Carrigan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andy McKee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bradley Bowmaker, 81 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Laurencekirk AFC's Logan Carrigan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Laurencekirk AFC from getting a goal against them. In the 97th minute, Andy McKee got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, Darvel FC's Will Yule got a free kick in the 97th minute. Darvel FC's Lewis Black played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andy McKee in the 100th minute of play. Laurencekirk AFC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
