Greig Train took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lucas Grieve, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucas Grieve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lucas Grieve who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 7thth minute tested the skills of Greig Train when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The supporters of Kirriemuir booed when Glasgow Hornet Killers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shane Gibson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Glasgow Hornet Killers's zone, Lucas Grieve stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Greig Train came out of the goal and Lucas Grieve tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lucas Grieve in the 12th minute of play forced Glasgow Hornet Killers's goalkeeper Greig Train to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 13 minutes into the game, one of Glasgow Hornet Killers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Kyle Adair shot the penalty kick right outside the post. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Lucas Grieve took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Greig Train to make any attempt to save it. Darius Allan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank McElheran in the 25th minute of play. The corner led Glasgow Hornet Killers's Grant Masterson to fire away a dangerous shot which Darius Allan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 29th match minute, Kirriemuir was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruce McCrimmor to maneuver through the defense. Glasgow Hornet Killers's Troy Carson got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Kirriemuir getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Gavin McKinnell hit a great ball. Troy Carson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Greig Train was a little too slow when Lucas Grieve got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 43rd minute. The score was now 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Troy Carson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Glasgow Hornet Killers's supporters rose to their feet, but Troy Carson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Darius Allan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lucas Grieve made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Kirriemuir's Bruce McCrimmor got a free kick in the 51st minute. Nicky McAulay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Greig Train tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Gregor Cookson came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Kirriemuir fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gregor Cookson couldn't finish the play. In the 89th minute, Frank McElheran got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 93 minutes into the game, Bruce McCrimmor cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Greig Train was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Kirriemuir walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
