After having played for 17 minutes, Nigel Abbott managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Alexandria FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nigel Abbott was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 21st minute of the match Guy McPatrick sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Owen Fulton skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Wigtown booed when Alexandria FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davie Doig didn't get a good kick on the ball. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Frankie Daniels stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 65th minute Frankie Daniels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ter Gow saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Oliver Casey kicked well hit freekick during the 67th minute of the match. In the 68th minute of the match Tony McGrime sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ter Gow skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Wigtown getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Mark Suttie hit a great ball. If Frankie Daniels had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Owen Fulton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nigel Abbott, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Alexandria FC's Nigel Abbott pulled a muscle in his leg after 85 minutes and couldn't finish the game. In the 85th minute, one of Wigtown:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Wigtown. When the match had been going on for 88 minutes, Alexandria FC's Guy McPatrick got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Owen Fulton. In the 93rd minute, Wigtown's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Simon Carmichael fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post.
