In the 7th minute Steven McCunn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wally Fairbairn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Stevie Lair made an important save on a dangerous shot by Terry Cobb in the 12th minute. Terry Cobbs short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Stevie Lair to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 21st match minute, Heart of Midlothian F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jimmy Eadie to maneuver through the defense. Lee McIlleriach sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Terry Cobb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stevie Lair made an important save on a dangerous shot by Terry Cobb in the 32nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Steven McCunn in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wally Fairbairn saved Lossiemouth City from getting behind. Terry Cobb fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stevie Lair having to interfere. In a very dangerous position, a player in Heart of Midlothian F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 45th minute. Penalty! In the 46th minute, Lossiemouth City got a penalty, and Rick Copeland placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lee McIlleriach stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Terry Cobb had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 minutes, Jamie Caird mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Heart of Midlothian F.C. and the Lossiemouth City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 58 played minutes Heart of Midlothian F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Caird. After 59 played minutes, Lossiemouth City's Rick Copeland shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Stevie Lair came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lossiemouth City reached it. Terry Cobb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Graeme Gilfillan got free with Wally Fairbairn in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Steven McCunn in the 78th minute of play forced Lossiemouth City's goalkeeper Wally Fairbairn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Finlay Federith fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Heart of Midlothian F.C.'s protests and gave Finlay Federith a yellow card for diving instead. Terry Cobb received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Stevie Lair tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terry Cobb sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wally Fairbairn came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by Heart of Midlothian F.C.'s Graeme Gilfillan. But to his dismay, Graeme Gilfillan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Lossiemouth City walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
