In the 28th match minute, Avoch was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexander Donachie to maneuver through the defense. If Timothy McCanish had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 31 minutes, Neil Ayson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Berriedale's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Ayson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match clock showed 34 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Neil Ayson sped through Avoch's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sean Elliott. Andrew Carruthers was a little too slow when Norman McComas got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 47th minute. The score was now 1-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Timothy McCanish was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the match, Avoch's goalkeeper Sean Elliott had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Neil Ayson. Darren McFarlane was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 56 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of Berriedale:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Avoch:s goal. The supporters of Avoch booed when Berriedale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fraser Malcolm didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute Kenny Wharrie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrew Carruthers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Berriedale's Timothy McCanish got a free kick in the 64th minute. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Timothy McCanish took a quick shot and it went in 2-4 without a chance for Sean Elliott to make any attempt to save it. When Alisdair McCrain came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Berriedale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alisdair McCrain couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Avoch's zone, Timothy McCanish stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sean Elliott came out of the goal and Timothy McCanish tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With his leg Sean Elliott managed to avoid a goal in the 78thth minute, when Berriedale's Timothy McCanish fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Timothy McCanish managed to get in a good position for a shot. Berriedale's supporters rose to their feet, but Timothy McCanish was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sean Elliott breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Andrew Carruthers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Norman McComas, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Timothy McCanish managed to get in a good position for a shot. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alisdair McCrain helped the player get up and apologised. In the 97th minute, Alisdair McCrain hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Berriedale could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Avoch throughout the match.
