Ceylon FC's Norman Barrie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harry McFie in the 4th minute of play. Harry McFie was extremely unlucky when he, in the 7th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Harry McFie scored 3-0 in the 14th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Norman Barrie, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 20th minute ARBROATH FC were awarded a corner. Kevin Greusach went to the cornerflag to take it. Norman Barrie was a little too slow when Harry McFie got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 27th minute. The score was now 4-0. After a rather tough play, Ceylon FC's Max McIvor got a free kick in the 31st minute. A collision led to Ceylon FC getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Gregor Ayson hit a great ball. Norman Barrie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry McFie in the 37th minute of play. Norman Barrie was a little too slow when Harry McFie got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 39th minute. The score was now 5-0. Samuel McCaskill hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. In the 44th minute, ARBROATH FC's Davie McCaig dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 6-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harry McFie was the one to do the kick off. Norman Barrie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davie McCaig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Douglas Will's late challenge caught a ARBROATH FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Douglas Will helped the player get up and apologised. After 56 played minutes Ceylon FC got a freekick which was hit by Douglas Will. After 59 minutes Ceylon FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kevin Greusach who took care of the corner kick. The corner led ARBROATH FC's Kevin Greusach to fire away a dangerous shot which Norman Barrie despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 66 minutes into the match, Harry McFie notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Ceylon FC's Norman Barrie. Norman Barrie was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Norman Barrie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davie McCaig in the 69th minute of play. Norman Barrie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davie McCaig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Davie McCaig in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Norman Barrie saved Ceylon FC from getting behind. Aaron McPhedran could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Ian McCabe made a huge save. Douglas Will kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Ceylon FC's Norman Barrie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kevin Greusach in the 81st minute of play. Duncan Scotland received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 84th minute. Ian McCabe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davie McCaig in the 85th minute of play forced Ceylon FC's goalkeeper Norman Barrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aaron McPhedran struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Ian McCabe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ceylon FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davie McCaig in the 94th minute of play forced Ceylon FC's goalkeeper Norman Barrie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the game, Davie McCaig cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-0. Norman Barrie was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the referee ended the match the ARBROATH FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
