Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Grant McLeverty kicked off to start the match. Ian McMenzies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Grant McLeverty in the 6th minute of play. Jonathan Duffie's late challenge caught a Lairg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonathan Duffie helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Brechin getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Jonathan Duffie hit a great ball. In the 7th minute of the match Jeremy Isles sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ian McMenzies skillfully saved the ball. Brechin's Ian McMenzies played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremy Isles in the 9th minute of play. Grant Forster hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Ian McMenzies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Greig Robison in the 13th minute of play. In the 15th minute Greig Robison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian McMenzies saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonathan Duffie in the 20th minute of play forced Lairg's goalkeeper Mark Hawson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonathan Duffie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Mark Hawson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mark Hawson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Duffie in the 23rd minute of play. Ian McMenzies took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremy Isles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Brechin's Neil McTier got a free kick in the 25th minute. Ian McMenzies showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant McLeverty, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Terence McKellaig during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Lairg booed when Brechin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Terence McKellaig didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Lairg's Jeremy Isles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ian McMenzies made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Greig Robison scored 0-3 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ian McMenzies, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ian McMenzies showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Grant McLeverty, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute of the match, Jonathan Duffie tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mark Hawson saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Neil McTier did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Mark Hawson 38 minutes into the match. Greig Robison hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. 44 minutes into the match, Lairg's goal looked a bit too open when Jonathan Duffie came free, but Mark Hawson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mark Hawson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donald McLamond in the 47th minute. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jonathan Duffie was the one to do the kick off. Greig Robison could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Ian McMenzies made a huge save. Ian McMenzies made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Jeremy Isles sent off a good shot on target. After 65 played minutes Brechin got a freekick which was hit by Donald McLamond. Mark Hawson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonathan Duffie in the 67th minute of play. Lairg's Mark Hawson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neil McTier in the 70th minute of play. In the 73rd minute Neil McTier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Hawson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 80 played minutes Brechin got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Duffie. Ian McMenzies made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeremy Isles in the 82nd minute. After some careless play in the Lairg defense, Jonathan Duffie kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mark Hawson. The Lairg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mark Hawson should have stopped the shot. 88 minutes into the match, Jonathan Duffie notched a goal, 4-3, to the right of Lairg's Mark Hawson. Mark Hawson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 91 minutes into the match, Lairg's goal looked a bit too open when Neil McTier came free, but Mark Hawson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 93 minutes of play, Brechin's Jonathan Duffie made it 5-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mark Hawson was left in no man's land by his defense there! For all the effort they put into the match, the Lairg players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Brechin.
