Inverness Warriors were furious when Matt Corrie was red carded, 4 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 4th minute, Matt Corrie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iain Lambie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sid Fyfe in the 8th minute of play. In the 8th minute, Sid Fyfe made a precise shot to the right of Iain Lambie. Inverness Warriors's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Sam Hill's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iain Lambie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 12th minute of play. If Les McFarlane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike McKerchar hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute of the match Jay Duff sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Iain Hawes skillfully saved the ball. Tommy Binnie scored 1-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Iain Hawes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Iain Lambie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Hill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Keith McNie's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iain Hawes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sam Hill in the 26th minute of play. Jay Duff's late challenge caught a Dragons Academy's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jay Duff helped the player get up and apologised. After 27 played minutes Inverness Warriors got a freekick which was hit by Jay Duff. Iain Lambie made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Les McFarlane sent off a good shot on target. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 37th minute of the match, managed to save Inverness Warriors from getting a goal against them. 37 minutes into the match, Les McFarlane dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Iain Lambie, 2-1. 45 minutes into the match, Les McFarlane had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iain Lambie. Inverness Warriors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Les McFarlane was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The wind increased when Finlay Gifford made the kick off in the second half. After 51 minutes, Les McFarlane made it 4-1 with a short kick to the right side. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 56 minutes into the match, Dragons Academy's Sam Hill sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iain Lambie narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 63 minutes into the match, Inverness Warriors's goal looked a bit too open when Les McFarlane came free, but Iain Lambie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Les McFarlane in the 66th minute of play forced Inverness Warriors's goalkeeper Iain Lambie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Iain Lambie showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Les McFarlane in the 71st minute of the match. After 73 played minutes Dragons Academy got a freekick which was hit by Mike McKerchar. A collision led to Inverness Warriors getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Tommy Binnie hit a great ball. Sam Hill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Iain Lambie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sam Hill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iain Lambie having to interfere. The Dragons Academy fans' excitement grew in the 88th match minute when Dragons Academy's Les McFarlane looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Iain Lambie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Hill in the 93rd minute of play. Inverness Warriors's Iain Lambie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Les McFarlane in the 95th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Inverness Warriors players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Dragons Academy.
