Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Dylan Blair took the kick off in the first half of the match. The supporters of Beith booed when ARBROATH FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Davie McCaig didn't get a good kick on the ball. 10 minutes into the match, Beith's goal looked a bit too open when Davie McCaig came free, but Gus Appleton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 11 minutes Beith's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Kevin Greusach who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Derek McMillan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gus Appleton quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Scott McIock during the 12th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Beith getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Scott McIock hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Harry McFie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gus Appleton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gus Appleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harry McFie in the 24th minute of play. Davie McCaig kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Harry McFie cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Gus Appleton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 31st match minute, ARBROATH FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Davie McCaig to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Davie McCaig in the 34th minute of play forced Beith's goalkeeper Gus Appleton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Harry McFie managed to get in a good position for a shot. ARBROATH FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Harry McFie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gus Appleton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 40th match minute, Beith was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kenny Cattanach to maneuver through the defense. After the first half ARBROATH FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
With a little luck, Beith's Gus Appleton got control of the ball when Harry McFie tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 53rdth minute of the game Davie McCaig who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Beith's Gus Appleton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Gareth McWhirr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58thth minute of the game Dylan Blair who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ARBROATH FC's Ian McCabe was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Harry McFie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gus Appleton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Harry McFie, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 64th minute, Davie McCaig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gus Appleton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Harry McFie, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th minute, Gareth McWhirr hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harry McFie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Gus Appleton made a huge save. The supporters of ARBROATH FC booed when Beith was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stevie McQuisten didn't get a good kick on the ball. Davie McCaig sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd rose to their feet as ARBROATH FC's Davie McCaig slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gus Appleton. That made the score 0-2 after 75 minutes of play. After 83 played minutes ARBROATH FC got a freekick which was hit by Derek McMillan. After a defensive mix-up in ARBROATH FC's zone, Scott McIock stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ian McCabe came out of the goal and Scott McIock tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harry McFie in the 88th minute of play forced Beith's goalkeeper Gus Appleton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute, Davie McCaig ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gus Appleton was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. ARBROATH FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
