Dragons Academy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brechin the free kick. Ian McMenzies showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sam Hill, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. 10 minutes into the match, Brechin's goalkeeper Ian McMenzies had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Les McFarlane. Terry McCay could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Ian McMenzies made a huge save. The crowd rose to their feet as Dragons Academy's Owen Ellwood slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ian McMenzies. That made the score 3-0 after 16 minutes of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Les McFarlane got free with Ian McMenzies in the 22nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 24th minute of the match, Sid Fyfe tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Ian McMenzies saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Les McFarlane got free with Ian McMenzies in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 33 minutes into the match, Les McFarlane notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of Brechin's Ian McMenzies. Ian McMenzies was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 38 minutes, Les McFarlane managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dragons Academy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Les McFarlane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brechin's Ian McMenzies proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Brechin from getting a goal against them. Owen Ellwood received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Ian McMenzies tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian McMenzies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Hill in the 44th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Dragons Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Terence McKellaig came free, but Iain Hawes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jonathan Duffie to strike the kick off in the second half. Ian McMenzies came out of the goal in the 55th minute to try and stop a shot by Dragons Academy's Owen Ellwood. But to his dismay, Owen Ellwood quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Ian McMenzies took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sam Hill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the game, Dragons Academy's Les McFarlane nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ian McMenzies made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. 64 minutes into the match, Brechin's goal looked a bit too open when Les McFarlane came free, but Ian McMenzies reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute, Owen Ellwood left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dragons Academy fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 9-0. When Dragons Academy's Owen Ellwood in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Ian McMenzies was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Sid Fyfe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 77 minutes of play, Dragons Academy's Les McFarlane made it 11-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ian McMenzies was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Brechin booed when Dragons Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Les McFarlane didn't get a good kick on the ball. Owen Ellwood scored 13-0 in the 89th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ian McMenzies, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Iain Hawes made a fantastic save in the 94th minute, when Neil McTier sent off a good shot on target. Les McFarlane scored 14-0 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ian McMenzies, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There was no doubt that Dragons Academy were the better team. Dragons Academy's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
