In the 15thth minute of the game Carlos Pedroso who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Defensor Sporting's André Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jorge Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 23rd minute, Jorge Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Garridos FC booed when Defensor Sporting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nivaldo Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute, Aloísio Porto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 30thth minute of the game Jorge Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Defensor Sporting's André Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Francisco Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Quinaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Pedro Lamego received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Francisco Vieira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Garridos FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Sebastião Aleixo hit a great ball. Francisco Vieira acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 41st minute, took the ball on the long shot from Alcides Severo. If Carlos Pedroso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Francisco Vieira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jaime Quinaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. In the 59th minute, Pedro Lamego ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Francisco Vieira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. When Defensor Sporting's Pedro Lamego in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. After having played for 87 minutes, Carlos Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Garridos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Garcia was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jorge Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, Defensor Sporting could leave the field as winners, despite Garridos FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
