The supporters of C.D.Boavista booed when SC Barcelos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Leão didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Monteiro made in the 21st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Armindo Matias. The crowd rose to their feet as Paulo Alves kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Manuel Borba. That made the score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. C.D.Boavista's Paulo Alves was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 43rd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Paulo Alves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pedro Aguiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristiano Porto, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 57 minutes into the game, Cristiano Porto lined in a short shot 2-1 behind a frustrated Pedro Aguiar. Paulo Alves struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Manuel Borba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for C.D.Boavista.
