In the 17th minute, Francisco Sarmento reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Nuno Leiria. The goal made the score 3-0. Filipe Mendes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Nuno Leiria made a huge save. Filipe Mendes struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Nuno Leiria didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Benfica. In the 93rd minute, Ademar Freire got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
