Caxias F.C.'s Nazım Gümüş shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 26th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Isidro Madureira but with some difficulty. In the 29thth minute of the game Matias Aleixo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caxias F.C.'s Álvaro Baía was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Isidro Madureira made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Nélson Nunes sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Moisés Caiado in the 37th minute of play forced Balas F.C.'s goalkeeper Isidro Madureira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matias Aleixo in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Álvaro Baía prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 41 minutes into the match, Jordão Valadares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Isidro Madureira. Balas F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jordão Valadares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Matias Aleixo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Álvaro Baía tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Olavi Kautonen fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caxias F.C.'s protests and gave Olavi Kautonen a yellow card for diving instead. Olavi Kautonen hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
