Silvestre Castelo Branco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 22ndth minute tested the skills of Valério Ferraz when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Fernando Aguilera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paulo Futre in the 24th minute of the match. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Germano Coimbra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the final whistle sounded Acrescenta left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than S.L.Benfica.
