Zacarias Fidalgo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led AQUAE FLAVIAE's Yuri Coelho to fire away a dangerous shot which Gervásio Sousa despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Gervásio Sousa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacinto Carneiro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Atlético Micaelense's Gervásio Sousa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto Carneiro in the 12th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Atlético Micaelense's Palmiro Bettencourt got a free kick in the 18th minute. After some careless play in the AQUAE FLAVIAE defense, Palmiro Bettencourt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alfred Walmarsson. The AQUAE FLAVIAE fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alfred Walmarsson should have stopped the shot. Adélio Festas hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Alfred Walmarsson made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Klaus Van Mellart sent off a good shot on target. After 31 minutes AQUAE FLAVIAE's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Rúben Camargo who took care of the corner kick. Gervásio Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adélio Festas, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 34th minute, Jacinto Carneiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Horácio Aveiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alfred Walmarsson was relentless in the 45th minute of the game. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Horácio Aveiro was the one to do the kick off.
