After a defensive mix-up in Leek FC's zone, Stephen Oakes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Keith Downham came out of the goal and Stephen Oakes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vince Sutcliffe kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. After having played for 37 minutes, Ben Washington managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Polperro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ben Washington was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Stephen Oakes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Keith Downham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 39 minutes into the game, Norman Bloomfield was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Leek FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Polperro the free kick. Norman Bloomfield hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. Stephen Oakes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Keith Downham tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Leek FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

52 minutes into the match, Leek FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ben Washington came free, but Keith Downham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Keith Downham showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ben Washington in the 55th minute of the match. If Stephen Oakes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 63rd minute, Ray Denham left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Leek FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 66 minutes into the match, Polperro's goalkeeper Billy Woods had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ray Denham. If Jon Venables had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Polperro's Stephen Oakes got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Stephen Oakes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Keith Downham was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. Ben Washington scored 1-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Keith Downham, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ben Washington in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Keith Downham prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stephen Oakes in the 81st minute of play forced Leek FC's goalkeeper Keith Downham to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jon Venables fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Woods having to interfere. Ray Denham could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Billy Woods made a huge save. Keith Downham made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ben Washington in the 88th minute of play. The match ended with a win for Leek FC.
