In the 13th match minute, Einstein FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ash Hancock to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the game, Tom Gerrard was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Einstein FC the free kick. In the 26th minute Devon Paget shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stan Smythe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 31 minutes of play, Einstein FC's Martin Stubbs made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. In the 39th minute Alfred Stone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Trev Froggatt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garth Carter who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 43rdth minute tested the skills of Trev Froggatt when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Trev Froggatt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Garth Carter in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. When Garth Carter came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Catford fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garth Carter couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Einstein FC booed when Catford was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Verne Bell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
