Dave Wellings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guy Vassell , who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. When Marlon Wells came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the London Colney FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marlon Wells couldn't finish the play. 23 minutes into the match, Southall City's goalkeeper Dave Wellings had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marlon Wells . London Colney FC's Guy Vassell was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 26th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. If Marlon Wells had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guy Vassell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dave Wellings having to interfere. Dave Wellings took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guy Vassell , even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marlon Wells could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Dave Wellings made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brian Warner made a kick off. After 52 minutes of play, London Colney FC's Guy Vassell made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dave Wellings was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 55th minute Guy Vassell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Wellings saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dave Wellings showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guy Vassell , who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Tosh Wiltshire kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Marlon Wells managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dave Wellings breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Guy Vassell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 80th minute, Brian Warner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Southall City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. If Tosh Wiltshire had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. Guy Vassell 's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dave Wellings read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The London Colney FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Southall City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
