In the 22nd match minute, Notting Hill Gate City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alf Edwards to maneuver through the defense. 24 minutes into the match, Notting Hill Gate City's goal looked a bit too open when Jeff Hyde came free, but Frank Cooke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cody Griffiths made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when James Taylor sent off a good shot on target. Ed Ackroyd kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. After having played for 43 minutes, Jeff Hyde managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jeff Hyde was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Netherton booed when Notting Hill Gate City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alf Edwards didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cody Griffiths breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 85th minute, James Taylor made a precise shot to the right of Cody Griffiths. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jeff Hyde got free with Frank Cooke in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
