After a defensive mix-up in Rangers's zone, Barry Guest stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jasper Trotter came out of the goal and Barry Guest tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Patrick Wakefield's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sly Auckland was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Johnathan Burley took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sly Auckland. Sly Auckland dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Patrick Wakefield struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Sly Auckland didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rangers. When Brett Taylor fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Droylsden's protests and gave Brett Taylor a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rangers booed when Droylsden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brett Taylor didn't get a good kick on the ball. Patrick Wakefield was extremely unlucky when he, in the 48th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carl Tate to make the kick off. Barry Guest could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Jasper Trotter made a huge save. Victor Harrison kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. It was beautiful to see Droylsden's John Avery in action when he in the 57th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! After 61 minutes of play, Rangers's Patrick Wakefield made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sly Auckland was left in no man's land by his defense there! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Colin Kershaw during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Droylsden booed when Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Colin Kershaw didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rangers's goalkeeper Jasper Trotter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 69 minutes into the game, Phil Galway was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Droylsden's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rangers the free kick. The supporters of Rangers booed when Droylsden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Galway didn't get a good kick on the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Rangers's Johnathan Burley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sly Auckland narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 74th minute Patrick Wakefield shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sly Auckland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 74 played minutes Droylsden got a freekick which was hit by Tony Swinscoe. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Droylsden's goalkeeper Sly Auckland, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Johnathan Burley got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sly Auckland showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrick Wakefield in the 79th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Barry Guest got free with Jasper Trotter in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After recieving a nice pass, Rangers's Pete Baldwin tried to score from far away in the 93rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Droylsden's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Wakefield came free, but Sly Auckland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
