Kristfinnur Snæsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vigur Vagnsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 18th minute, Arnleifur Vífilsson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson. The goal made the score 2-1. The audience was convinced that Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson was relentless in the 25th minute of the game. Kristfinnur Snæsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yrkill Hlynsson in the 26th minute of play. Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson in the 32ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 33rd match minute, Mímir Bæ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Birgir Ásbergsson to maneuver through the defense. After 37 minutes, Edílon Kristbjörnsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Akron and the Mímir Bæ players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson got free with Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 45 minutes into the game, Arnleifur Vífilsson recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson. Arnleifur Vífilsson showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-1. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Akron's goal looked a bit too open when Arnleifur Vífilsson came free, but Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Vigur Vagnsson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson. Akron's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vigur Vagnsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson in the 61st minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, Akron's goal looked a bit too open when Gils Þorbergsson came free, but Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson saved Akron from getting behind. The supporters of Mímir Bæ booed when Akron was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Friðfinnur Egilsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mímir Bæ's Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Birgir Ásbergsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sigursteinn Friðþjófsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Mímir Bæ had played much better football throughout.
