When Hleiðar Þorgerisson fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mímir Bæ's protests and gave Hleiðar Þorgerisson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 23rd minute Svangeir Bergmansson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kristfinnur Snæsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes into the game, Mímir Bæ's Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. After the first half Mímir Bæ were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Svangeir Bergmansson was the one to do the kick off. Jóhann Sólbergsson made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Griffill's Jóhann Sólbergsson got control of the ball when Vigur Vagnsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Mímir Bæ fans' excitement grew in the 86th match minute when Mímir Bæ's Björgólfur Hallbjörnsson looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-5 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Mímir Bæ played a much better game than Griffill and deserved their victory. The Griffill players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
